Whether it’s tax planning or tax controversy, Jared Garfield helps clients stay compliant with U.S. tax laws to avoid penalties & maximize their interests. As a law clerk at Hone Maxwell LLP, Jared supports the attorneys by researching tax law, determining how the law applies to the client’s circumstances & communicating that information to the attorneys & clients. While Jared is working toward his law degree at the University of San Diego School of Law, he already has extensive experience in business & finance. He worked as an individual retirement account specialist, assisting customers with managing their financings & developing techniques to de-escalate challenging situations. Jared previously worked as an intern at the Taxpayers’ Rights Advocates Office in San Diego on the Tax Appeals Assistance Program, where he conducted legal & factual research to help people with their California state tax appeals.

An attorney & CPA with an extensive accounting & finance background, Josh helps clients navigate the underlying issues & transactions related to tax plans & has a winning record representing taxpayers before taxing authorities. Josh handles international tax & federal, state & local tax issues, particularly civil & criminal tax controversy defense. He advises clients on a variety of international tax issues including the Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP), the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), treaties & IRS informational reporting. Josh’s experience in public accounting with a strong international focus & education as both a CPA & attorney allows him to understand the underlying issues & transactions when preparing tax plans or defending taxpayers in front of the taxing authorities.

He is a serial entrepreneur having founded and invested in various companies in multiple industries. Robert co-founded Global Mortgage Group in 2018 and now America Mortgages, seeing a need for a truly globalized approach for real estate investors to obtain a mortgage in countries outside of their country of domicile and passport. Global Mortgage Group is Asia’s only U.S. mortgage broker.
