Clients are increasingly sophisticated and expect more from their advisors.
How would a young practitioner approach such a client? What are some of the challenges faced or common queries that may be                                      posed?

15:45 - 16:00 Networking & Refreshments

16:00 - 16:45 Investment power of the Trustee – to have or not to have
Trustees have a fiduciary duty to beneficiaries and an irreducible core duty to safeguard the trust assets.  However, for most                                            Trustees, we are not investment professionals. Can a Trustee be held accountable over the investment performance of the                                                trust assets in a full discretionary trust? Do the Trustee have any fiduciary duties over the investments in a reserved                                                          powers trust?
This session focuses on the investment decisions that the Trustee makes, his role in investment monitoring, and how a Trustee                                        can best manage its risk and yet fulfil its fiduciary responsibility.
Mr. Shawn Wang TEP – Director, Head of Trust Services and Resident Manager, Ocorian Singapore Trust Company
Ms. Woo Shu Yan - Director, Dispute Resolution, Drew and Napier LLC

16:45 - 17:30 Trusts under attack – key takeaways for the practitioners
Setting up a trust is one thing but anticipating and protecting against attacks on the trust structure is another.
What are some potential vulnerabilities in a trust structure that a young practitioner should be watchful for?
Mr. Alvin Lim – Co-Chair, STEP Singapore Young Professionals Network; Partner in the Specialist & Private Client Disputes                                              Practice and Private Wealth Practice, WongPartnership LLP
