Programme Synopsis

It is not Singapore Budget yet and already 2025 has much to talk about! One of the hottest topics this month is the Special Economic Zone in Johor jointly run by Malaysia and Singapore that will see the creation of 20,000 skilled jobs in the first five years.

What does this really mean for tax advisors as strategic partners of business owners? What are the various tax issues to consider and be mindful of?

Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals is delighted to bring together expertise within the profession from both sides of the Causeway to weigh in on this unique opportunity for businesses and tax advisors. 

While it is early days and details are not announced yet, this online dialogue aims to highlight the salient considerations for the profession to be poised and ready to provide strategic guidance accordingly. Harvey is Tax Partner with KPMG Advisory LLP, Singapore, and leads the R&D Grants and Consulting practice with more than 20 years’ experience in both the public and private sector. 

In KPMG, Harvey helped to form one of the first dedicated R&D incentives practice in Singapore to assist clients on their R&D tax incentives claims and access to government grants and incentives. He also advises on corporate tax matters, including intellectual property planning, setting up of regional headquarters and cross border mergers and acquisitions. Harvey contributes to discussions on tax policy matters and is part of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC) Taskforce on R&D Tax Incentives.

Adriana Calderon has extensive international experience and specialises in transfer pricing (TP). She has advised companies in the Asia Pacific region across various industries in planning, compliance and dispute resolutions with tax authorities.

Adriana has also participated in specialised projects involving pricing of financial transactions, business restructures and negotiation of APAs. More recently, she has participated in TP planning projects to implement BEPS Action Plan.

Besidesbeing Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals' representative in the taxauthority's TP Roundtable, Adriana also enjoys teaching and has not onlyfacilitated in training sessions by SCTP but also for CFOs, tax teams of largecompanies and consultancies, and tax executives at the Australian TaxationOffice.

Grace is leading the APAC Employment Tax practices at Vialto Partners in Singapore. With over 20 years of experience in helping businesses manage issues relating to their workforce, she specialises in assisting multinational companies and their employees with their employment tax and benefits matters. 

Grace’s advisory experience encompasses tax structuring of employee remuneration packages, equity plan reviews, due diligence, development of tax equalisation policies, amongst others. 

Grace also helps clients to improve the effectiveness of their workforce, advise on talent mobility and manage human capital risks. She also has extensive experience in liaising with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore and Central Provident Fund Board.

Working with multinational corporations and local public listed companies, she also has considerable experience in corporate tax, stamp duty, withholding tax, real estate gains tax, tax audits and tax due diligence.
