Programme Synopsis

Scott Levine, a partner in Baker McKenzie's Tax Practice Group based in the US, is coming to Singapore! Prior to joining the firm, Scott Levine served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary (International Tax Affairs) in the US Department of the Treasury, where he led the Office of Tax Policy's work on international affairs. His responsibilities included overseeing regulations, treaties, and the OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework on BEPS negotiations on Pillar 1 and Pillar 2.

This is a joint networking event organised by the Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals (SCTP) and the Tax Academy of Singapore (TA).

Programme Outline

The session is moderated by Accredited Tax Advisor (Income Tax) Allen Tan, Chair of Baker McKenzie’s Asia Pacific Tax Practice and SCTP’s Deputy Chair.

The speakers will discuss the increased uncertainty that has been more recently inserted into the international tax system, including Pillar Two developments and the anticipated U.S. "side by side" agreement, including the treatment of incentives and the potential longevity of QDMTTs in historical investment hubs. The speakers will also explore how evolving policies and cross-border pressures are redefining local tax rules and increasingly robust revenue enforcement and collection efforts. Furthermore, Scott and Allen will provide insights and practical strategies to help organisations stay agile, manage tax exposure, and maintain resilience in an increasingly unpredictable environment.

Scott brings deep expertise from his recent role as Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Tax Affairs at the US Treasury.
