Programme Synopsis

Entrepreneurs often wonder whether they should set up business under sole proprietorship/partnership (unincorporated business) as opposed to under a private limited company (incorporated business). This 1-day webinar by ISCA will provide participants with a good understanding of the tax treatment between unincorporated and incorporated businesses and what are some of the common pitfalls to avoid when deciding whether to convert an unincorporated business to a company.

Yuet Lai has a 20-year career in taxation with one of the Big 4 accounting firm and a multinational corporation as its in-house senior tax advisor. She has extensive experience providing tax advisory and tax compliance services to many notable clients including financial institutions and fund management companies as well as dealing with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.
 
On the academia front, Yuet Lai has 15 years of experience in the teaching of Taxation including teaching ACCA Basic and Advanced Taxation, Singapore Chartered Accountant (SCA) qualification, ATTS and polytechnic. She is currently teaching Taxation with a local university. She was the examiner for the Taxation module of a national professional examination and the author of ACCA Advanced Taxation Revision Kit.
 
Leveraging on her industry and teaching experiences, Yuet Lai is able to articulate and explain complex tax concepts in “layman” terms. She has consistently received excellent feedback on her clarity and passion in teaching.
 
Yuet Lai graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Accountancy (BAcc) from the National University of Singapore (NUS). She is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore (CA Singapore) with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and an Accredited Tax Advisor with Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals (SCTP). She has obtained WSQ Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) to teach adult learners.
